Join Independence Center in Making a Difference

The Art of Mental Wellness is an opportunity to sell your art for a cause.

Independence Center is hosting its second annual Art of Wellness event. The art show and fundraiser will support Independence Center, a nonprofit in Waukegan, IL, serving adults with mental illness on their journey to recovery. The event will be held at the Dandelion Art Gallery, 109 S. Genesee St, Waukegan, IL. The request to artists is to produce art that draws inspiration from feelings, self-expression, reflections, and fresh starts.

While an art theme is not required, we encourage submissions expressing recovery emotions, resiliency, and new beginnings as they impact the individual, loved one, or community. Any work displayed or submitted will be permitted to be sold during the event. The artist may set a predetermined price for the artwork and donate some of the proceeds to the cause. While fundraising is not required, we encourage all artists to promote the show and, in turn, the organization.

Artists are encouraged to provide their display tools (easels, display racks, etc.), but display walls will be provided if needed.

The submission process and guidelines are below.

Guidelines 

• Medium: hanging art (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photography, mixed media, etc.)

•FEE: $10 per 12” x 18” Space includes two tickets to the event ($70 value) and 10% of the Sale

*Fee waived if artist fundraises on behalf of the event and raises a minimum $250; registration

Submissions will be collected via the Independence Center. Interested participants must contact Independence Center to set up a drop-off and pick-up time and complete the entry requirements.
