COVID-19 RESPONSE
With the safety of our community in mind and to comply with the State of Illinois Coronavirus Mitigation plan, Independence Center services are being delivered via telephone, computer, and appointment only. For assistance, please contact us during regular business hours. Continue to monitor our social media channels for great ways to manage your physical and mental health during this time.
Our Staff, Members, and Board wish you good health. COVID-19 Rules and related policies are listed on the entrance door of Independence Center. Thank you for your patience and support. You are in our hearts and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Section 1: Face Covering Requirements for Individuals
- Starting Monday, August 30, all individuals who are age two or over and able to medically tolerate a face covering (a mask or cloth face covering) will be required to wear a mask when in an indoor public place regardless of vaccination status.
Section 2: Vaccination Requirements for Health Care Workers
- Healthcare Facilities include, but are not limited to, hospitals, mental health centers, outpatient facilities, public health centers, residential treatment facilities.
- All health care workers must get the first dose, or a single-dose vaccine no later than September 5 and the second dose must be received 30 days after the first dose.
- Beginning 10 days after issuance of the Executive Order, employees who are unable or unwilling to receive the vaccine will be required to get tested for COVID-19 weekly, at a minimum.

Mask Are Required - All individuals, visitors and staff are required to wear a mask throughout the day. Masks will be provided should you need one.

Entry into Building - The front door will be kept locked. A member of our staff will admit individuals one at a time.

Sign-in - Individuals must sign in upon entry. Writing materials will be disinfected by our staff.

Temperature - All individuals, visitors, and staff will have a temperature check with touch-less thermometers upon arrival; you must register lower than 100.4 degrees to enter. If an individual has a temperature of above 100.4 degrees, our staff member will hand you a piece of paper with your temperature, and you will be told to return 48 hours after if you are fever-free.
Request additional temperature taken - After 15 minutes, an individual can request to have their temperature taken one additional time. You must wait outside of the building during this time. If still above 100.4 the above information applies.

Group Sessions - The Group facilitator will escort group participants out following the group session. Group facilitators will wipe down desks and chairs following each session. Please let’s all help each other with this task.
Other Services - Staff Members will contact individuals if a Mental Health Assessment and Treatment plan are due. Members should feel free to call to make appointments. Services are also available via phone and the internet.

Social Distancing - Our tables, chairs and seating stations have be reorganized to practice social distancing.
Bathrooms - The bathrooms will be limited to one individual at a time; doors have been outfitted with locks so individuals can lock when in use from the inside.
